Dance. Make things just for the joy of making them and give them away. Bake bread. Grow vegetables. Swap bread and vegetables with your neighbours. Love thy neighbour. Stare into the flames of a campfire at night instead of the blue light of a screen. Go to bed early. Sleep. Take your own sweet time. Doodle. Trust it will unfold. Live on a boat. Watch waves instead of tv. Watch the sun set instead of the tv. Listen to the birds, really listen. Read second hand paperbacks. Mend your clothes. Cook meals for strangers. Ask more questions, and listen, really listen, to the answers.
The Tideline
Every month, I send paid subscribers a poem or a small collection of poems in the post. This month, I made these collaged mini-zines (is it a zine if it’s only got one poem?) containing the poem above. I have already posted these out, but if you want to get in on next month’s missive, subscribe or upgrade to paid, and you’ll also get access to my fortnightly essays, where I am exploring writing with more ‘me’ in it.
I am a spoken word poet, a craft, design and sustainability writer, and a nature-informed coach and facilitator.
